Many Ponyo On A Cliff Updates! US RELEASE!! DVD RELEASE!!

Miyazaki's latest masterpiece- Ponyo on a Cliff has a US release date- August 14th!

Dubbed in English with an all star cast- Noah Cyrus as Ponyo, Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Betty White, Frankie Jonas, and Lily Tomlin.

Hopefully, Disney is able to release it in many theaters across the nation!

In other Japan news-

Ponyo On A Cliff will be released on DVD July 3rd!
two DVDs will be available- Standard (4935 yen- Preorder SALE price 3948 yen) or a Special edition (19110 yen- Preoder SALE price 15228 yen) of 5 discs loaded with specials!
Both will have English subtitles- but none of the specials will have subtitles :(

There are plans to release a Blu-Ray edition- but no mention of a date yet!

Ponyo On A Cliff Image Revealed!

Ponyo on a Cliff (Gake no ue no Ponyo) image album will be released on March 5th. A sneak peak at the cover image of the album was published on the composer Hisaishi Joe's website.

The image is the second to be released of the much anticipated Miyazaki film.

The album is available for preorder via Amazon Japan, order via Rinkya Stores!

Ponyo On A Cliff Miyazaki Update!

Ponyo On A Cliff's theme song will go on sale December 5th. Fujioka Fujimaki (famous duo Takaaki Fujiaoka and Naoya Fujimaki and Nozomi Ohashi (only 8 years old!)

A preview of the song will be played during the October 14th Radio Ghibli airing. We will let you know if we can get a clip!

Miyazaki's latest film is slated for Summer release.

Kazuo Oga Studio Ghibli Special DVD & Blu Ray Release!

Famed background artist and art director, Kazuo Oga, whose exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo was well received, will be releasing a DVD and Blu Ray on the exhibit.

Footage will contain information on Totoro's woods, commentary from his contemporaries, all 600 works that were displayed at the Museum, and the making of the cover paintings.

For those who could not make it to Tokyo for the special exhibit, the DVD and Blu Ray release is a beautiful alternative. The DVD will run 3990 yen, Blu Ray 6090 yen starting December 19th.

Another special bonus will be a Studio Ghibli matchbox- displaying Oga's painting of Totoro in a deep slumber (shown above).

Ghibli Channel is an online streaming video show that will include cast interviews, previews on new movies and any Ghibli information the fans will find of interest.

Unfortunately, the viewing of these videos is limited to Japan residents, other IPs are blocked. The good news is Ghibli World (the premier online Ghibli resource webpage) has been granted access and is showing the videos on the website.

The current videos include: an interview with Ghibli Museum director Nakajima Kiyofumi, a report about Studio Ghibli at the Tokyo Anime Fair 2007, Ou to Tori trailer and Haru no Mezame trailer. (from site)

Ou to Tori is "Le Roi et L'Oiseau", an animated film from France by Paul Grimault and Haru no Mezame is Russian Director Aleksandr Petrov's, "The Old Man And The Sea".

We can hardly wait to see a trailer of Miyazaki's newest film- Ponyo On a Cliff to make an appearance- hopefully soon!!

Miyazaki's Next Film Announced!!

The new movie is "Gake no ue no Ponyo"- Ponyo On A Cliff
Hayao Miyazaki's newest creation is expected to be released in the the summer of 2008.

The story will be about a Princess goldfish named Ponyo and a little boy named Sosuke. The goldfish wants to become human.

Miyazaki has had great success with his movies throughout the world, winning an Oscar in the US (the first Japanese animation to do so).

We look forward to his newest movie!
